🇬🇧 "The Ultrasound – Or: How I Realized That Revenge Just Isn’t Sexy"

Updated: Apr 26

In the summer of 2024, somewhere between the foothills of the Alps, blooming meadows 🌸, toadstools 🍄 and bare feet 🦶🏻🦶🏻, I met Niklas 👩🏼‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏼.

I still remember exactly how I said to my mother 👵:

"Mom, I think I’m dreaming. Everything is just so beautiful." 🌼

And yes – it truly was almost too good to be true. Sex in nature 🌲, laughter like in a movie, hugs that could’ve lasted forever. We joked 😂 that all we wanted was to lie next to each other and cuddle. Nothing more. The world could fall apart – as long as we had each other. 💕☀️

But as life goes, everyday reality crept in. And with it: my job.Suddenly, "us against the world" turned into "him against my job."The harmony faded into arguments. Closeness turned into aggression. 😤😩

And me? I left. To Stuttgart. Then Frankfurt. Then Vienna. And finally Zurich. 🌉And inside? I dove deep. Into tears 😭, into questions 🤔, into: "Why again?"I thought I had found the man of my life 🙅🏼‍♀️ – and ended up meeting myself again.

Four months later, strengthened by silence, AI reflections 🤖 and lots of tea 🫖, I pulled myself together.I wrote to him. Maybe… there was still a spark?

Spoiler: No.

Instead: 📸 A kissing photo with a Thai woman.

A few weeks later:👶 An ultrasound image with the message: “I’m going to be a father.” 👨🏼‍🍼

📄 And on top: An official immigration commitment, saying he would fully support her when she moves to Germany.

Yes, you read that right. The message was loud and clear:

⏰ I was too late

.😑 I had the wrong job.

🚞 I had left him.

And now I was being replaced – by someone "better, younger" 👧🏼

The whole thing felt like a silent punishment, served with a government stamp. 🎯

But something didn’t add up.The pregnancy week shown didn’t match the timeline of his trip to Thailand. The ultrasound showed a fetus in week 5 – but if he was truly the father, it should’ve been week 11 by then.

So, I investigated – not out of anger, but genuine concern – and gently pointed it out. 👈🏻

His reaction? He resisted with all he had. 🙅🏼‍♂️First it was: "The image is old." Then: "Bad quality." Then: "Let’s wait for the next scan 👶🏻."But a simple "Thanks for thinking and caring"? Nowhere to be found. 👎🏻

Instead I got:"I’m more worried about you."Ironic. Snide. As if I were losing my mind. As if I was the stalker ex. 🤪😱

And me? I had a brief moment of doubt.. Am I too much? Is my empathy wrong? But my heart ❤️ knew: I’m not crazy 🤪.I’m just awake.

Eventually, he realized himself: he wasn’t the father. The Thai woman was gone. But his anger toward me? That stayed.

"You reached out too late.""I can’t live with your job." 🙅🏼‍♂️🙅🏼‍♂️🙅🏼‍♂️

Okay. I got the message. Some hearts just need more time. 💔 Or maybe more lifetimes. ❤️‍🩹

What I want to say with this story:

💥 If you want to hurt someone, you’ll only end up hurting yourself.💥 If you fake something long enough, you’ll eventually believe the lie.💥 And if you stay in battle, you always lose – even when it looks like you’ve won.

I chose not to strike back.I chose to stay in love. And the universe? It handled the rest. 🙏

✨ So I tell you:

Let go. Don’t fight. You don’t need revenge. You just need to be real. And love. Even when it hurts.

Because true strength doesn’t show in retaliation –It shows in staying open.
